Waves introduces Waves Stream

# Is Waves Stream a Remote Mixing Tool?

Waves Stream is designed to facilitate seamless collaboration between music producers, engineers, and artists in real-time, over the internet. This tool addresses one of the most significant challenges in remote music production: the ability to work on the same project simultaneously with high fidelity and low latency. It allows users to share sessions, make adjustments, communicate, and listen to changes in real-time, just as if they were sitting together in the same studio.  Let’s discuss the features of it and how it can be used to support remote mixing!

Key Features and Functionalities

  • Real-Time Collaboration: This feature allows multiple users to access and work on a mix simultaneously. Changes made by one user are immediately reflected on all other users’ screens, ensuring that everyone is always on the same page.
  • High-Quality Audio Streaming: The tool offers high-quality audio streaming capabilities, ensuring that all collaborators can listen to the mix in the best possible fidelity, which is crucial for making precise mixing decisions.
  • Integrated Communication: With built-in chat and video communication features, collaborators can easily discuss ideas and provide feedback without needing third-party communication tools – Perfect for helping a live-streaming engineer who is mixing remotely communicate with the on-site team.

How far does Waves Stream + MyFOH get us?

While Wave’s MyFOH app indeed offers control, it is still stuck locally, trapped to only users on the local network.  You’ll still need to set up an onsite private VPN solution to bridge this network remotely.  While Waves Stream gets us the lower-latency audio, you’ll still have to manage the hassle of configuring the network will hold you back from the elegance of something like Presonus’ Metro.
